Must confess haven't seen "Australia" the movie...I believe the cinematography was brilliant and the performance of the young indigenous lad was outstanding. I think the director got a bit carried away, most people here were a little disappointed, Moulin Rouge crept in to outback Aus....and went on for far too long. Our indigenous people have a very earth centred lifestyle and spirituality. Essentially nomadic, their history is handed down to the next generation in the form of stories. Their art is primarily applied to rocks/cave walls and depicts their life and the animals they hunt and stories of the Dreamtime...their creation history, with magical beings like the Rainbow Serpent and the Waggyl. The coming of the white man threw their delicately balance existence into chaos, bringing disease, alcohol and a culture that is so far removed from theirs it was devastating. There is a strong cry for "reconciliation" but it is perhaps too far gone to save some of their culture, which I believe is lost to many of their people. Urban Aboriginals, suffer the same fate of many indigenous people swept up with European invasion.....drug and alcohol abuse, unemployment, suicide and violence. In more remote communities, their values and culture are still evident, and many fight to make sure they retain what they have. Their stories now live on in their art...When my sister-in-law came to visit I took her to the Art Gallery in Perth. The indigenous collection was outstanding. Beautiful paintings from remote area artists using natural ochre and dot and line style. Fantastic montages of urban life by young city artists using colour and imagery which was stark, raw, but somehow beautiful. European invasion stuffed them up considerably, but at least as a people we are trying to address it as best we can. Now they are faced with another "invader", as many refugees from Africa and the Middle East come into our communities....they are being displaced yet again. Sounds protectionist, but I don't think we need any more immigrants 'til we can address the problems we have here. I guess on a world scale our lifestyle is pretty good. But when you look at stats regarding infant mortality rates and the epidemic proportions of diabetes and heart disease amongst our indigenous people....we need to take care of our own before throwing the doors open to anyone else. Well, that was a bit of a rant-fest wasn't it....probably triggered by another refugee boat hitting our shores this morning. I don't blame them for seeking a better life, but there seems to be an awful lot of money changing hands....and little known about these people, who come with no papers, no background and who fork out 10,000 dollars to pay the people smugglers. Someone's making a bundle somewhere! Anyway, enough from me I'm taking up too much "hugspace". Hope all is well in your world....love, light and peace from the land of Aus.

May God bless you and keep you in perfect peace. Here are some encouraging bible verses to uplift you. Remember, faith moves mountains and you can get through anything in the name of Jesus. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. Psalm 18:28 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Gold Star

Thanks for your kind words and good advice. I am watching him carefully...and hope to get him to find the time to come with me to the doctor. I am disappointed his father is the way he is, but I can't change that...just do the best I can. I don't hate the man, don't feel anything for him actually....just wish he would be kinder to the boys. I hope you got a good nights sleep and your pain is eased..I started my vitamin supplements again...need to get some energy back, no appetite and have to push myself hard to get stuff done...Ah well, onward, I go....love, light and peace...(and yes, you are not the only one to say I'm down to earth, though I do aim for diplomacy!). xx

Flowers

Hello, Well spring has sprung for you, but here it is now officially autumn. We have really strong easterly winds, very drying and despite 1 day of steady rain, the ground is still dry. We have very hydroscopic soil here (what soil we have, most is rock) and I have had to buy some organic soil wetter to try and keep things alive 'til the wet weather comes. I used to get a lot of allergies when I lived on the coast, turns out I am allergic to Cocos Palm blossom....our neighbours have one (which looks bizarre amongst all the native trees). Fortunately the wind blows most of the pollen the other way and the guy next door tries to cut down the blossom branch when it flowers. They produce a huge number of heavy seeds and when they drop it's a mess and they sprout really easily. My ex-husband was obsessed with palm trees and we had dozens of them at our coast home. I hate that pseudo-tropical look, always reminds me of service stations! Sorry you've had such a bother with the "crazy" sending you crap messages....there are some strange people around. The Lupus site has been getting a little weird lately....Ah, well takes all kinds I guess. My son has returned from 2 months with his father, came back looking thin and sick and within days of his return I received a doctors letter (he was hospitalised days before turning up here). Apparently he saw a mental health specialist, who states he has suicidal tendencies and disthymia (depression). He seems improved since he's been here and if I can get him to, I will take him to my doctor for his advice. I find myself checking on him every night before I go to bed....haven't done that since he was little. Seems they're always your baby, no matter how big and feral they get! Fortunately he still has his apprenticeship, I think going to work and TAFE has been keeping him on track....Looks like the father/son thing with him is a big problem...My husband C is very good to him, but this kid of mine pushes every button imaginable...being 16 going on 17 is not easy for some! Lupus is giving me a bit of a hiding lately...think it's a bit of stress, plus the change in the weather, can't wait 'til winter, I have had enough of blue skies and hot winds. Hope you don't suffer too much with the spring/allergies. Stay cool and avoid the "nutters"...love, light and peace from the land of Aus.
