OK, T, I'm putting up the photos!
We had an amazing time with our family. We spent the entire weekend relaxing, coming and going at a leisurely pace, eating, drinking, playing games, dancing, listening to music, telling stories, watching old family movies. It was as great a time as I can remember having. The weather was perfect, my uncle and his wife outdid themselves in making us feel welcome and loved.
The theme for the weekend was cowboys and indians, and my uncle left no detail out. He had a real teepee, a real native american indian flute player one night, a small country fiddler band the next night. the last night, as true to our heritage, we made some Polish food and did the polka. We even told indian ghost stories to the kids in the tent under the stars.
And finally, after months of sweating it out, I was able to give my family the cookbook. It made me very happy to watch my families' reactions as they looked at the pages, laughed at the old photos, talked about which foods were their favorites. I saw tears in the eyes of my mother, and knew I had done a good job. It was worth every frustrating second I spent working on it.
So now we are back home, and summer is ramping up. Next stop, Allentown for August!
