Well, I'm not sure whose milestone it is...reicher's or mine. Even though i have watched him every single day of his life, grow day by day, I am still having a tough time realizing that all those days have added up to having a child who is old enough to be in kindergarten. that's a KID. not a baby, not a toddler, a real KID.
We all walked him to school this morning (a big deal to have all of us dressed and out of the house at 8AM). It gave me a new sense of my neighborhood to see all these families I'd never seen before out walking their kids to school. Rei has a great teacher, ("the best one") according to the dad of a 3rd grader, but it was still really hard for me to walk out of that class room. At his pre-school, you are welcome to hang out, get coffee, talk to the teachers, the other parents...and you are welcome to come to school at any time. Not so in kindergarten...you drop him off, and he's inaccessable to you till pick up. More of an adjustment for me than him, I'm sure.
I am really excited to pick him up today and hear all about his view of things.

Just remembering the first day of preschool for Ann two weeks ago. Wasn't it just yesterday we took them home.

I've been here on the East Coast for 5 days and I still haven't adjusted to the time change. It's 11:45PM, and I am normally asleep by 10PM at home. But at home, it's only 8:45, so my body clock must still be on West Coast...I'm fairly wide awake. I've just taken a Tylenol PM, (which I hate), just because I NEED to go to sleep if for no other reason than Reicher and Pierce ARE on this time zone, and will be up in a matter of 7 hours...I will be a zombie all day if I don't go to sleep soon.
Scotty is finally here (he was shooting in Vancouver this past week). So, we are finally all at Poppy and Nana's house, ready to start our summer vacation, except...
Scotty is sick, Nana is sick, (Reicher is just getting over being sick), Pierce is sick, and I am feeling a bit on the icky side (but not full on sick just yet). Summer flu is the worst. I also hate air conditioning as a general rule, but it's a necessity here. So, feeling a bit chilled, but can't tell if I'm shivering due to the oncoming flu or just the a/c cranked up.
OK, going to go downstairs to what I lovingly refer to as the meat locker (our bedroom, and Pierce's crib are in the basement, which has been converted into a kids' paradise of a playroom complete with air hockey table, toys everywhere, a big screen TV to watch any Pixar movie of your choice, and a bedroom/bath for me and Scotty...it's great, but it's f'n freezing down there!)
GOT to try to sleep....

So adorable!!!!!!!
