Progress... Mood

Well today I had NLP for my emetophobia. I was taught to think differently about it and my anxietys around it. I had to think of a particular situation i've been in and change my thoughts around that. By the end of it I couldnt really picture it as clearly as before. That should hopefully transfer to the rest of my thoughts etc. I also had to discuss what it would actually be like if it did happen, it was silly that I couldnt actually think of why it would be so bad and everything apart from having anxiety but I always have that anyway. But thats the way fears are-people are scared to the fears when realistically it probably wouldnt be so bad. I also have to practice anchoring-relating relaxation to a certain spot on my body (my knee) so that when i have anxiety I can touch the spot and my brain will relate that to relaxing.

Also I'm back eating wheat again because that didnt help. But i'm drinking more water and having more fibre and kiwifruit. I've discovered that citrus seems to give me powel pains and diarrhoea but I havn't found out what causes my constipation and cramps yet. I still have a bad feeling its chocolate so i'm not going to eat it for a month (until the food show).

Lastly I'm going to the dentist next week to see about getting invisalign (teeth straightening without the metal braces). The specialist will be there next week so I can see if it will help with jaw pain and my wonky front tooth.

Ok. I must remember to ask if straightening my teeth will help my jaw pains or whether maybe just removing my wisdom teeth would help.
Its funny i've just noticed all the ads on this page (to the right hand side)...theres one about IBS, one about NLP and one about invisalign!

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I had completely forgotten!
Anyway, I went for the appointment and they weren't very helpful. It wouldn't take much to straighten my teeth, but when I was asking about my jaw they didn't seem to want to answer many of my questions because they weren't related to invisalign. They dont seem to think it would help my jaw, but the lady I go to for NLP gave me some stretches to do because she seems to think it would be from sitting at the computer. Invisalign would cost $7000 so I dont think i'll worry about it at the moment. Also, I went back to the dentist who did my root canal and she said that she can straigten up my wonky tooth at the front anyway, before she puts the crown on. So thats good.

I'm back! Mood

I had completely forgotton about daily strength! Not that I have much time for going on here these days. I've started the advanced Diploma of graphic design so that takes up a lot of time. I barely have time for anything else most of the time. Also I discovered facebook so that gets a lot of attention in my free time!

I have one development that can be noted. Last week I went to a dietician to find out once and for all what causes my IBS, intestinal cramps. So I had to record what I ate for 3 weeks and took that to her. She looked through and discovered that Wheat might be the problem because I was eating a LOT of stuff with wheat in adn its a common intolerance. Its amazing what has wheat in it. So now i'm off wheat for 3 weeks and see how that goes. I'm at the end of the first week and so far my symptoms have been as bad as usual. So I really hope its not wheat because I love bread too much and the 'bread' if you can call it that, that i've been eating is horrible. Rice and rye, rice and chia and gluten free white bread which was the worst. But toasting them seems to give them a better taste and texture. So luckily its winter and I can have soup and toast. Or I make sushi for lunch....although I discovered that soy sauce has wheat in it!!! I was so glad to hear that the fish n chip shop up the road does gluten/wheat free batter and also Hells pizza has a gluten/wheat free base! Wonder whats in KFC batter??

At the moment were doing a brief that is about bringing rare phobias into the public eye (for the phobic trust of NZ which i've sometimes thought i'd like to be a volunteer at on their phoneline but back to the story...) so thats when I remembered about daily strength! Once i've finished my brief i'll put some pictures up.

So thats what i've been up to. Hopefully i'll be able to update on the wheat thing in a few weeks.

Ooo also I went to self hypnosis and learnt how to do that. But the best thing was that the lady who took the course said that if I went to her clinic and had NLP, she could get rid of my phobia in a day! I cant get my head around that though because how can you get rid of something you have known all your life? She said it would take a few sessions for the anxiety.

Also with my headaches, i've discovered they always seem to come around the time of the month, so have been taking magnesium tablets and have had less headaches! The self hypnosis also works for getting rid of headaches sometimes.

Anyway i'll keep you posted.

Checkin in... Mood
Saturday, January 24, 2009
Well I haven't been on here for AGES. Just checkin in to say everythings going well, no problems. Well there was one little problem which was the fact that I had to go and have a root canal treatment before christmas! I was worrying heaps because I hate having dentists playing around in my mouth since the time I was at high school and I was gagging when they were putting in fillings. But I got a really good dentist adn it all went well and so I think ive conquered my fear of going to the dentist now! If I can go through a root canal I can go through anything. Ive heard all these rumours that root canals are the worst thing you can get done but I didnt find it that bad.
The worst part was how much i had to pay........i'm now broke :(
But otherwise i'm still doing my course, I finish in a few months and then start the advanced diploma. but i'm still thinking do i really want to keep studying or find a job? Hmm...well I probably cant afford to look for a job when I finish because the root canal has taken all my money and I probably wont have much to live on until i find a job.... So I should probably keep studying for another year (getting the student allowance).
