My wife and I have been married for 4 years and through invetro, we have new born twins at home. I need someone to …
My goodness alot has happened!! Lets see if I can make a long story short.
Thursday: I go into the hospital for cervical ripening.
Friday: I got back to have the it removed in the morning and they told me that I'm about 2 cm dialated. Around 3:30 in the afternoon I start having contractions and by 6 they are 5 min apart. I go into the hostpital and they send me home and said come back when you can't talk through the contractions. By 12:30 in the morning we go back to the hospital with really intense contractions. Since I was scheduled for an induction the next morning they checked me and I was still only 2 cm dialated so they gave me morphine to help me sleep.
Saturday: 7:25 am they induce me. Around 10:30 am they broke my water. Around 2:25 I started pushing and Alexander made his appearance at 2:58 pm. It was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced. Stephen was so great during the whole thing. I couldn't have done it without him. He even cut the cord! (a couple weeks ago I asked if he was going to do it and he said no). The doctor had a resident with her who was learning how to deliver babies and she told her that she just witnessed a perfect birth. I was beaming with pride. The first thought I had when I saw Alexander was that he looked just like Stephen. I thought his hair was reddish but after he had a bath its more golden blond. Maybe it will still get the reddish tint back.
We got send home the next day and Monday was Thanksgiving up here. We had a check up on Tuesday and by then he started looking really yellow. It turns out he had Jaundice and lost 12% of his birth weight. So he was readmitted to the hospital on Tuesday. It was upsetting because my mom was leaving the next morning and my baby shower ended up getting canceled. I had to stay in the hospital with him so I can feed him. I'm breastfeeding and found out that I don't have enough supply to feed him which was one of the reasons for his wieght loss and jaundice. We stayed in the hospital for 2 days and finally got to go home on thursday. The hospital stay was extremely hard for me because it took me so long to feed him. It took about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs to feed him and I had to do it every 3 hrs (on the clock! the nurses got me up every time) so that left an hour at a time to sleep or eat. I hadn't had a decent amount of sleep since sunday night and this was now Thursday. They finally had a lactation consultant come in and give me a new feeding plan so that way I could get some sleep. I was so tired I couldn't function. I had another appointment with a lactation consultant yesterday and my supply is still too low. I'm barely able to produce a 3rd of what Alexander needs. So now I"m feeding him and then pumping and he is being topped up with formula. Tomorrow I have a Dr's appointment and I was told by the lactation consultant to ask for some pills that will increase milk supply. I forget what its called but I was also told that you can't get it in the states which I thought was interesting. So other than feedings we are all doing fine. I will hopefully be able to post pictures tomorrow. We haven't gotten them off the camera yet. I've got to go, Time for another feeding!
