My wife and I have been married …
My wife and I have been married for 4 years and through invetro, we have new born twins at home. I need someone to …
The weekend didn't go so well but at least Mother's day was really nice.
On Friday I gave my presentation on my Thesis. I was feeling exhausted so they let me sit through my presentation. I think that helped me relax too. I got through that ok and went home to get ready to go shopping in the States as a little get away/treat for me finishing the hard part of my thesis (I just have to correct a few things, turn in my form and my final submission and then I'm DONE!) Anyway, that evening I remembered I needed my passport, well it wasn't where I thought it was.. long story short, Stephen and I turned the whole house upside-down looking for my passport (and his passport too) and my permanent resident card. We were up until around 3 in the morning doing that! Then I looked online to see how to replace an American passport in Canada and a permenant resident card (like a green card) It is a long drawn out and expensive process.. meanwhile, I'm going to be hopping back and forth over the border alot in the next two months and really need my passport. (I'm picking up my parents at the airport in Buffalo in a month and drving them over the border and we are going to my brother's wedding in July, not to mention cross-border shopping and a mini-women's retreat for my chruch) I was panicking! I ended up not going shopping on Saturday. I was really upset. To make matters worse, Stephen had planned the whole day for golfing so he was gone all day and I was left alone. Not how I planned to treat myself for a job well done. Stephen was disappointed I didn't get to go too, so when he came home from golfing he brought me some flowers. He was planning to give them to me for Mother's day but thought I needed them a day early. Then we did a few things that I wanted to do and when we got home he washed my car while I made a pie (it was for a pot luck that I just found out was cancelled!).
Sunday was much better though. We went to church and it was our turn to be on Worship Team this Sunday (I wish I was on it every Sunday because I love singing!). Also during the service I read my poem that I wrote last Mother's Day. Its called the Unknown Mother. Its kind of about how I felt I couldn't celebrate Mother's Day because I didn't have a living child. I got a lot of great comments after the service. Everything from "That was very brave, I can't imagine what it must have been like." to "It happened to me." I was dreading it at first but afterward it felt very rewarding and I was proud of myself for doing it. I was even able to get through it without crying (but I did start to well up). Stephen cried though. So then in the evening my in-laws came over and we all went out to dinner. for a gift, Stephen got me a spa package for expectant mothers! Its a one hour massage, followed by a 75 min foot and leg buff/massage/pedicure and I get a smoothie! I'm totally doing that once my thesis is totally done. When we got home from dinner Stephen and I cuddled up on the couch and fell asleep watching a movie. So Mother's Day was pretty great.
Oh. I never finished the story with the passports. Well, since we looked everywhere in the house we were trying to remember the last time we had them. It was when we went cross-border shopping back in March when I got my first Maternity clothes. We went with my in-laws in their van. Stephen mentioned that he remembers putting them in the pocket on the back of the driver's seat. I tried calling my father-in-law because he had the van out for a camping trip (he's into scouting) Well, my in-laws always have their cell-phones off unless they are making a phone call. They say its for emergencies but what if someone else has an emergency, then they can't get ahold of them. Anyway, he got back from camping around noon on Sunday and I called and asked if he would look in the van. Sure enough, there they were. So the important thing is that they were found. Unfortunately, if he had his phone on, I could have gone shopping on Saturday because the camp ground was only a half hour away from our house. At least they are found. My mother-in-law said that I can pick what ever day I want and she will take me then (this is a mall I hadn't been too yet so I was really looking forward to going someplace I hadn't been). They also have a bigger motherhood materity store than the mall in buffalo and they have a carters so I was really looking forward to it. So all in all.. everything turned out ok and the passports are back where they belong.. safe and sound, ready for my next hop across the border.

Wow~that sucks about not being able to find your passport. But, so glad you did find it eventually. It would stink to pay and wait to get another one. What a great gift you received from DH! I so love going to spa and getting pampered. You deserve a day like that! :) Big hugs
