    • About Me

I'm a single mom of 2. My daughter is st 18 and my son is 10. I'm a program specialist in the IT departmentfor a large University/Research hospital in Arkansas (www.uams.edu) but I am on medical leave. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic, and I wear an insulin pump. I have peripheral and autonomic (in my urinary tract) neuropathy. Yea, I didn't know you could get it there, either. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, RLS, arthritis in my ankles, knees, and hips...blah blah blah...you know the drill. Chronic pain due to herniated discs @ C6/C7, L4/L5 and L5/S1 with stenosis, bilateral osteophytes (bone spurs) on my hips, and DDD. I've lost 40% of my kidney function. I was misdiagnosed for 3 years with Lupus. Recently diagnosed with an aneurysm in my noggin. Update: Had surgery 7/14/08. All seems to be well. 12/1/08 found out I have bone spurs on my neck, shoulders, and collar bones. That sh*t hurts.

    • Open Arthritis

There is a subset of patients with a severe condition called “inflammatory erosive osteoarthritis.” This is a rapidly debilitating condition for which the standard OA treatments are ineffective. Many of these patients have significant inflammatory and erosive disease. Anecdotal reports of methotrexate efficacy in these patients indicates that this type of OA probably shares biologic characteristics with RA.
