    • About Me

I'm 40, my DH is 39 and we've been TTC since we got married 4 years ago. I'm a children's therapist and work with children who have emotional and/or behavioral problems. It's especially hard right now - I'm always around young children, pregnant moms, families, etc. I'm working hard to stay positive and to be hopeful! DS (and the people I've "met" here) have been very helpful to me in doing this. As I hope for others, I find my own hope is renewed.

My 4-legged babies (we have three dogs - 2 Rottweilers and a Jack Russell - and a cat). Everyone else in my home seems to get pregnant easily! My dog has actually had 29 babies since we started trying - and I still don't have one! (We breed Rottweilers and have had 3 litters over the past couple years.) Even the stray cat who adopted us has had 2 litters - a total of 8 babies! We spend a lot of time renovating our home. I love to read when I have time and music keeps me going. We love to travel, but between the house and medical bills, it's not in the cards right now!

That does seem so far away but it will be here before you know it! :-)
Yes, I need to rearrange some of the rooms so I can get around with crutches. I also need to put some things near the bed and couch and try and find a fanny pack... hahaha! I am not sure how I will do with the crutches b/c one of my shoulders is dislocated, but I had cortisone shots in it a few weeks ago so hoping for the best! I am a little nervous but after the pain I've had in the foot and knee this weekend I really want it over with so I can start healing and hopefully no more pain! :-)

    • Close Infertility

Idiopathic (unknown) female infertility . . . so the main suspect (by default) is that I'm old (reproductively speaking, that is!) :) IVF #1 was Nov '07 - complete failure . . . 10 eggs, nothing developed normally, all arrested . . . nothing to transfer . . . devastating! We changed doctors & labs . . . and made another attempt late Sept/October 08. We were much more successful, transfered a blast & 2 morulas but got the dreaded BFN. Now we're on to round 3 & hoping the 3rd times the charm!

      Treatments

      Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
Did it with IVF #1 - it was relaxing and I enjoyed it. Don't really know if it helped. Impossible to find someone around here who has experience with infertility.
      Artificial Insemination Not Working
Tired this to at least control 1 variable for 3 cycles (w/Gonal-F)even though we don't have any male factor issues.
      Clomid Not Working
Did this initially through my OB/GYN - didn't work at all - horrible side-effects and no intended effects even on 150mg! YIKES!
      Femara Not Working
This was the first med (other than Metaformin) that RE started me on - better response than Clomid w/o the side-effects, but didn't work well enough to mature my eggs.
      Follistim Somewhat Helpful
I've used a lot of Gonal-F . . . in IUI cycles and with IVF. Currently on 300 IU in the morning - and taking Menopur in the evening as we prepare for, hopefully, a successful IVF!
      HSG (Hysterosalpingography) Working / Worked
      Had a HORRIBLE experience . . . VERY painful . . . but all was normal.
In Vitro Fertilization Too Soon to Tell
We'll know more soon! Hoping, praying that all will be different this time and we'll have some good news for a change!!
      Lupron Somewhat Helpful
Did the Lupron IVF med protocol in June '07 without actually doing IVF. Had a good response, but not good enough to be pregnant.
      Metformin Not Working
Looks like my previous doctor diagnosed me as mildly insulin resistant wrongly as no other doc who looks at my bloodwork agrees. This was an awful medicine to tolerate for over a year . . . especially needlessly.
Ovulation Predictor Kit Working / Worked
At least I know I ovulate on a regular basis. Who would think that getting pregnant would still be so difficult!?!
      Repronex Somewhat Helpful
Had a good response, but not good enough - & had horrible side-effects! Tortured w/daily injection site welts for 3mos. Was so happy to say "Good-bye" to this med! Using Menopur for the first time with our Sept/Oct IVF. So far, so good!! No welts, no rash!! Hopefully the egg factory is kicked into gear . . . we'll find out soon! I'm on much higher dosages this time around - including 4 vials of Menopur nightly (along with 300 IU Gonal-F in the morning).
