hi there Fern ,i was just reading your comments to my journal ,and just had to come see about the episode with your mum:)....You ever notice ,when we`ve been under emense strain or pressure (or both!) ,that we can burst into hysterical laughter ,at the most inapropriate times!LOL~~~~I had a friend ,when i was younger (we worked together ,straight from school)....she and i were very much alike in that respect....and the things we would find amusing..you`d never believe!:)...Poor mum ,you sure it wasn`t her with the drink in her hand~~~and that it was only soda??he!he! I`ve a vivid picture in my head..you simply have to write about it now!
On a more serious (or tedious for you ,i`m sure) ,note...have you heard anything more ,re ur on going case??It`s unreal how "desperate" these solicitors can be ,persuing us just to get our case in their grubby little mitts!THEN!THEN!Once you`re committed to them ,and their so called "expertise"~~you`re stuffed!
I rang mine again this week...as it`s now almost 5 months since my accident ,and yet STILL they`ve not arranged a medical (by one of their appointed docs!)~~~When i spoke to a member of the group ,she told me i`d cancelled!!!WTD????!!!!!
After a few choice words ,and a threat to take my business else where (yeah ,i know ,almost impossible ,and a real pain too!) ,i might get treated with a little more respect!PLUS ,they may actually start taking the case seriously ,as so far i`ve done all the running around..calling up..etc ,etc ,i know you`ll know all about that!grhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
Finally ,yest i received a letter ,apologising profusely ,and assuring me ,my case would be dealt with...toute--suite!I told her ,if i`d not heard about seeing the dr by next fri ,at the latest ,i was def taking action against them!
I meandered thru` their file they sent me ,and noted my "hard working" solicitor ,received the princely sum of....wait for it!375$ an hour!!!FOR WHAT~~~~That`s what I want to know!!Must be the easiest money ,ever made!No wonder lawyers are big business ,in every country!ugh!makes me want to give up ,and throw in the towel...then i have yet another sleepless night ,or one with no more than 2 hrs...and i REFUSE to cave!
So ,guess what i`m trying to say is ,please try and hang in there...soo wish i could be of more support..but knoww your (ds) friends are rooting for you ,and praying this nightmare ends really soon!

Close Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed in 1993 after a shoulder injury lifting a patient. I am a nurse who is disabled due to fibro and MPS.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Not Working
- Made me worse.
- Cyclobenzaprine Working / Worked
- This med really helps me sleep and keeps me from clenching my teeth and the associated pain.
- Effexor Not Working
- Too many side effects.
- Elavil Not Working
- This med caused too many side effects including low blood pressure and weight gain.
Close Chronic Pain
I suffer from fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome that were both a result of a work injury. I was hurt working as a nurse while lifting a patient in 1993.
Treatments
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- I go at least 1/week and find that I hurt less if I get adjusted regularly.
- Hydromorphone Working / Worked
- I couldn't survive or function without this med.
- Carisoprodol Working / Worked
- This helps prevent stiff and spasming muscles. It helps decrease my pain and helps my pain med work better.
Open Parenting Toddlers (1-3)
I am a 42 y.o. mother of 4 boys. They range in age from 24 to 1.
Treatments
- Patience Working / Worked
- There is no choice but to have patience when raising children.
- Play Therapy Working / Worked
- Children need to be children and should be given every opportunity to play.
- Positive Reinforcement Working / Worked
- Positive reinforcement encourages the right behavior.
- Time Working / Worked
- When all the other things dont work removing the child from the situation and taking away fun for a few minutes lets them know you are serious. If Ben misbehaves he knows he will have to be confined in his packnplay for a few minutes until he calms down and acts appropriately.
Open Miscarriage
I have lost 4 babies. The first was years ago between my first and second biological children. The next 3 started in 2004 trying to have one more baby before I got too old to do so. Some health problems had prevented us from having a baby for aoubt 10 years and we were desperate to have one more.
Treatments
- D&C Somewhat Helpful
- I carried Jacob for 12 weeks, but he died at 9 weeks after a normal u/s. I just wanted it over and done. Since my body wasn't recognizing his death, I just couldn't walk around indefinitely waiting for the pregnancy to end. It was the most difficult of my 4 miscarriages though and I am not sure I would do it again!
- Support Groups Working / Worked
- I am a member of spals and it has helped me more than anything else. I still participate even though its been 3 years since my last loss and I have now had a baby.
Open Prostate Cancer
My father was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He will be 69 in Feb. I don't yet know his Gleason score or any details, which is the scarey part.
Open Family & Friends of Cancer Patients
My father was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive prostate cancer. He will be having surgery March 5 in Ohio. I plan to be there.
Open Dyspraxia & Apraxia
My son has a speech delay and I am having trouble getting his services to be extended past Early Childhood Intervention. And I think he has apraxia.
Treatments
- Speech Therapy Working / Worked
- He has a great therapist and the therapy is helping, but its slow.
