I received my teaching degree in December of 2007. I was a mom before I decided to go back to school and get my degree. I am currently subbing at several schools and looking for a full time teaching position. It has been a year since I was initially diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. I will soon be having a CT and Chest Xray to determine if the cancer is gone.

Prayer
Saying a prayer you get the all clear! I just finished treatment for vaginal cancer (Stage I to II), did the Cisplatin, 25 external rads, and 3 days of internal rads. No surgery. I will keep you in my prayers, as I pray my treatments have rid me of this nasty beast as well.

Close Cervical Cancer
I had a radical hysterectomy in May of 2007. After the pathology report it was determined that additional treatment was needed. I had a port insert. I had a round of chemo (cisplatin) and radiation in July and August. In September I had 4 chemo treatments of Taxol and Carboplatin. Since I have had my first pap which came back negative. Now I am anxiously awaiting my first CT and chest xray.
Treatments
- Chemotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- Taxol & Carboplatin My main side effect was fatigue. I did lose all my hair about 4 weeks after my first treatment.
- Cisplatin Too Soon to Tell
- Combined with radiation. My appetite was minimal.
- Hysterectomy Too Soon to Tell
- Surgery on May 14th
- Radiotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- Combined with Cisplatin my appetite was minimal.
Close Anemia
Diagnosed Anemic after surgery. Thought everything was ok but now that I am starting chemo the anemia comes into greater play. I had one transfusion during surgery. I had a blood test today to determine all my levels. My hemoglobin was at 9.5 not much change from when I left the hospital a few months ago. To insure I dont have problems with the chemo I have to have 2 liters of blood on Wednesday.
