began attending GA almost 3 years ago. Went on and off since then - due to several "slips". Mother of 2 beautiful adult daughters and 2 beautiful granddaughters and 1 son-in-law. Divorced/widowed. I am in education full time. Enjoy gardening and trying to get back into some of the other things I used to enjoy before gambling (BG)

Close Gambling Addiction & Recovery
I began GA for the first time after about 4 years of compulsive gambling. Went to GA after I had gotten so far in debt that I finally had to tell my family. They were supportive the first time but with each successive "slip" they were less and less so. I have now lost my oldest daughter and granddaughter to my gambling addiction. (my oldest granddaughter called me mamma. I call her angel - hence the screen name.) Now I am doing GA and counseling for me.
Treatments
- Gamblers Anonymous Working / Worked
- Just a baby in the program but each time I have slipped they have been there to help pick me up.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- This is my time to focus on me and try to figure out how to use the tools I have to stay clean. Like the therapist I am working with helps me reflect and analyze.
