It was nice spending some time with Winter yesterday and the whole shopping trip was not as bad as I had feared it would be. Sure the stores were croweded but I've seen them so much worse. Not sure why, could be the high gas prices, it was $3.19 for the "cheap" stuff down in Homer, or it could be the road repair I've heard is going on north of me but the traffic (and thus the shoppers) did not seem to be nearly as heavy as in years past.
I made a point of paying all our bills before I went shopping, didn't do that in May and was kind of behind playing catch up in June. As it was I ended up spending nearly $400 on groceries for the month and yes I did get stuff I normaly would never buy, like pop for Neal and beer for me to go with our bar-b-que. Still it freaks me out to spend so much money on food. There is a part of my brain stuck way back in the 60's and 70's when I could buy so much for so little. I used to think $400 a month was horrible when there were eight of us at home, oh for the good old days.
Our weather continues to hold, warm and sunny although some high thin clouds have been moving through. I didn't get anything done outside yesterday but hope to spend a couple of hours wiht the lawn mower today, Winter took the weed eater home with her and said she is planning on spending the day working on the cabin. Wonder how that is going? Today will be pretty laid back, do some mowing, cook some bar-b-que amd watch a movie or two. Then tonight look for fireworks, and listen to the guns go off, should make the dogs nuts. HAPPY AND SAFE 4th to all my U.S. friends.

Happy 4th of July to you too Georgia! My family and I are going to the river tonight. Haven't been in 5 yrs. so I am looking forward to it.
