About Me
I'm married for 34 years and have three grown daughters and three grand children. Also have two horses a dog and two fish. I was a computer data base engineer for mayn years but when the Lupus hit 17 years ago I was too ill to keep working. Every time I thought things were under controll and I thought I would go back something else would happen. So I became a stay at home mom. I enjoy being at home and love spending time with the grand kids.

Interests
I enjoy being at the barn...the smells...the sights and the did I say smells? Yes after a while even the smells are a comfort. I also do some drawing and painting, a little needle work, reading, working in the garden. My husband and I also love woodworking. We are making a dresser for our youngest grand daughter.

I was diagnosed in 1992 after a year of being terrible ill.
Treatments
- Celebrex Not Working
- Did nothing for my joint pain.
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- I have antiphospholipid antibody and have had two pulmonary embolism. The coumadin helps.
- Methotrexate Somewhat Helpful
- Plaquenil Not Working
- I had to be taken off because of vision problems.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Still on prednisone and have been for 10 years. Can't stand the weight gain.
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- Worked while I was going but my acupuncturist moved and I have not found another one.

I have Lupus Fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. I was diagnosed in 1992.

- Seems to work some but has caused a weight gain.

- It has helped me more than anything else I have been on.

- Oh boe did I love this stuff. I don't know if it got rid of the pain but I sure liked not careing if I hurt or not. Took myself off because I did like it too much.

Open Healthy Eating
I have been told by my rheumatologist and my gastric doctor that I need a more healthful diet. Low fat and high fiber are recommended. I'm from the South and heavy high fat food has been a way of life. I'm looking forward to learning a new healthy alternative of eating. I have to do this because I have ischemic colitis and my health is dependent on better eating habits.

- I have a number of health problems and have not had any regular exercise. I have been using these problems not to exercise. I am considering some type of water activity and walking.

- I hate to exercise alone so I stopped gong after three months.

- I tried this several years ago and saw little benefit.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Tried low carb...no carb....some carb....etc. I lost 50lbs. but as soon as I started to add carbs the weight came right back. But now I am eating well balanced meals 6 times a day.
- Jenny Craig Not Working
- Could not continue to afford the food.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- I have started water walking for 1 hour 3 times a week and this is working. Walking on dry land is still a challenge because I'm still recovering from surgery for a broken back.
