I read your post and I have to say keeping a daily journal is perfect. I started keeping a journal a year ago. I send emails weekly to my pain management doctor. He wants me to do that. It helps him help me. What is your diagnosis?

Close Chronic Pain
I have been suffering from chronic pain since I was 19, going on 6 years. I have multiple health issues contributing to my pain- interstitial cystitis, herniated discs, migranes. I have sought PT, surgeries, other treatments and found little relief. While I have a passion for traveling, artmaking, and being around people- the consistent pain has muted many things in my life. Looking for some optimism and good advice:)

Close Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
I was diagnosed with IC about 5 years ago. I have tried everything from hydrodistention, DMSO installations, PT, all meds: elmiron, neurontin, hydroxyzine, sanctura, pyridium, etc. etc.

Open Back Pain
I'm 24 and have multilevel disc hernaitions in the lower back. i has surgery when I was 21 to correct a herniated disc- now the same disc is herniated along with one above and two below. I have nerve pain in both legs- am going through different treatment options rapidly approaching the possibility of a second surgery- in pain daily and want desperately to be pain free and able to go hiking, dancing, and all the things I miss:)
Treatments
- Acupuncture Not Working
- Cortisone (Injection) Somewhat Helpful
- I did 4 rounds (8 injections per round). The injections helped releive pain at first- for several weeks. i was getting a round every 3 or 4 weeks. The injections became less and less effective over time until the last round gave no releif at all.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Ibuprofen Working / Worked
- Naproxen Working / Worked
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- No change in symptoms- the PT kept my back in an agitated state. They had me doing stretches, pillates, and traction- after 8 sessions and feeling very discouraged I decided to stop going and continue stretching at home.
- Relaxation Working / Worked
- TENS Working / Worked
- My TENS helps when I am in intense pain, however it is diffcult to wear out of the house (mine is bulky with all the wires), great for home though.
