I'm living with an engaged to an alcoholic and addict. I'm unhappy, and alone and I am looking for any sort of suggestions or help I can get.
Treatments
- Al-Anon Too Soon to Tell
- He just found a meeting that seems to be the right one, but still says that he's not recovering for himself right now, but that he's doing it because he has to for others. I'm skeptical.
- Patience Somewhat Helpful
- Our whole relationship has been a battle with admitting that he has a substance abuse problem. I'm trying to be patient currently as his family and myself had an intervention not too long ago to tell him that this was it, and what we expected.
- Psychotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- He's been seeing the same therapist for well over a year, and only recently has he been going every week. I still think that he keeps the therapist, as well as those trying to help him, knowing just enough to get by.
- Talking Too Soon to Tell
- Right now he's hesitant to talk very much, or very openly. It seems I only get what I think is the truth when he's drunk all ready.
