Close Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2004. I am learning to accept it and get on with life as best I can. I thought sharing here with others may help me to deal with it better and make some new friends too.
Treatments
- 5-HTP Working / Worked
- I take it at bedtime and it makes me sleepy.
- Celebrex Working / Worked
- I found this to work better then anything on my low back pain. I take it on an as needed basis.
- Effexor Working / Worked
- I take 300 mgs for years now and it has worked better then anything for major depression.
- Lyrica Not Working
- I tried it and it didn't work.
- Neurontin Not Working
- It didn't work.
- Tramadol Working / Worked
- This works as I have tried going off it and my fibro flared. It doesn't take all the pain away but definately brings it down a notch or two.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionMajor Depressive Disorder from puberty on. I'm doing well on meds.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Not Working
- This didn't work for fibro pain and abrubtly stopped working. I had a really bad bout of depression until I went back on Effexor.
- Effexor Working / Worked
- I have been on this for almost 10 years. It works at a high dose- 300 mgs.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- I meditate in the form of prayer.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- This helps.
Open Alcoholism
I was born an alcoholic. I can't drink in safety in any amount. I had many jackpots and almost died after relapsing for 6 years. I now have 5 years clean and sober from a drink, a drug, or a substitute. I owe it all to AA and my higher power. DOS 10/01/02

- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- I have benefited from doing all the steps in order as the are laid out in the Big Book.
- AA Meetings Working / Worked
- I attend 4 to 5 meetings a week. I am a coffee maker and am active in the program.
- Al-Anon Working / Worked
- I attend an Alanon meeting every week and open up and set up for the meeting and handle the Literature. I love Alanon because it made me learn I can't change anyone but myself.
- Detox Working / Worked
- I had two medical detoxes to get sober.
- Librium Working / Worked
- I took this in detox to avoid having a seizure and take the edge off.
