I am a 35 year old mother of 2.I am on disability (SSI) because I have narcolepsy and cataplexy. Now MS too. I spend alot of time with my kids. I don't have many friends. The past 8 years of my life have been very difficult. I have my family to lean on when I need to, but I am really alone. I love life though. No matter what you will always see a smile on my face. I live to laugh & laugh to live. Learn something everyday & that day is not wasted. Think positive & always smile. That's how I survive.

I found out yesterday that I have MS. I haven't had my spinal tap yet though. I have suffered my current symptoms for over 10 years and nobody ever said MS. On average I have suffered about 7 to 8 "episodes" a year for the past 3 years. Now I have optic neuritis that is getting worse not better. I try to stay positive but this is all new to me. I already have a neurological disorder that I have to deal with. Dr. says I one in a million, very rare. I don't feel special,I feel alone.
I am a single mother of two living with multiple health problems. In 1997, my doctor told me he thought I had narcolepsy. A couple of Neuro's and a sleep study later it was confirmed, I have Narcolepsy and told that my falling down was a condition called Cataplexy. I ended up having to file for disability because I build up a resistance to my meds and after a month or two Ihave to switch meds. When I am taking something that works, I still fall asleep when watching tv and stuff.
