Hi..sorry meds aren't working for you. Do you see a Rheumotologist at the VA's? Sounds like you need to up your meds rather than they just aren't working. I take Neurotin 3,000 mg a day with permission to increase x2 as needed on a flare. Do you feel like your doctor understands FM? Asking alot of Q's...sorry. I hope you have a good afternoon. Deb

Close Fibromyalgia
Leg/back pain close to unbearable. I cry several times each day; pain is so bad in legs! Pain in hands is severe, too. Constant muscle spams. Doctors @ VA simply say "oh its your fibromyalgia". Gabapentin isn't working. Tamadol is worthless in relief. Night meds don't even put me to sleep anymore! I'm looking for some new thoughts on help with the pain/ immobility. Arthritis, IBS, COPD, headaches, dry eyes, leg swelling/burning in feet/legs, numbness in hands/feet add to constant discomfort!
Treatments
- Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
- Been taking 1/10mg @ bedtime for over 4 years. Doesn't help my sleep problems either.
- Elavil Somewhat Helpful
- Been taking 3/25mg @ bedtime for almost a yr (formerly took trazadone). Doesn't seem to help my sleep problems either. Pain at night still keeps me awake with this and other meds plus the CPAP!
- Guaifenesin Working / Worked
- Taking 2/400mg daily for about 3 1/2 years. This works well but I am prescribed this for my COPD.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- Taking 2/400mg three time daily (total 2400mg) since Jan 09. (constantlyhas been upped since Dec 07). Hasn't been helping the pain or doing anything to help getting aroung lately!
- Ultram Not Working
- Now taking 2/50mg every 6 hours. Don't feel any relief. Started tramadol 5 years ago and used to think maybe it helps be stopped feeling this way about a year ago. VA says "I don't realize how much it helps"....yea right?!?!?
- Walking Not Working
- My doctor at VA said to get exercies and walk walk walk. Cant though. Walking just makes me hurt worse. COPD limits me also.
- CPAP Not Working
- Diangnoes witih Sleep Apnea and given CPAP to use at night. I do this but a cant sleep because pain in legs keep me awake way into the night even with nighttime meds. When I finally go to sleep I still wake up several times in the sleep period. VA says keep working at it!
