Hang in there
When you go to the meeting at school make sure you tell them that you want your son to be on an IEP or ask about the 504 plan. On the IEP, children get more one on one time and the school and you can come up with ideal goals that your child will try and meet at the end of each school year. It is something to look into if you haven't already. Also about walking laps; when Luke misses recess, the teacher makes him run laps! One day, Luke did not want to and the teacher was trying to make him, he got mad and threw rocks at the building. Of course they wrote a long note that day stating how bad he was. I think what I am going to do is go to the school board about this. I think that maybe you should do the same about the school making the kids walk laps. I am sure none of this is in the "handbook of conduct" at the school. What if the child has a breathing problem or something? I would hope they would not make them run or walk laps! I just feel that our children are being discriminated against and it is making me really angry! I feel like pulling Luke out of school and home schooling him but I can't afford it. I looked into special schools for children with ADHD and ther are no schools in Kentucky! One is in Denver,Atlanta, and Texas. So I am right there with you! I just don't know what to do!
Thank you so much for your support. I wish there was a special school around here that Luke could go to for children with ADHD! It would be so much easier because teachers in the public school system are not trained to deal with children like our's! I am at the point to where I think I am going to strt Luke back on medications again. I really don't want to but the teachers are giving me a hard time about it. I am also concerned that I am holding Luke back from learning and being friends with the other kids. I just don't know what the right/wrong things are right now!
I know! Luke has has another "terrible" day today and I am at the breaking point!
No problem! Look forward to seeing you on the boards! L~
I have a daughter Calleigh who was born October 4, 2009. I also have a 2 and a 4 year old, they are little boys.
I have a 2 year old, Kevin, was was born June 28, 2007.
I have a 4 year old, Rickey, who was born February 13, 2005. He is being evaluated for ADHD/Mild Autism on December 29th of this year with the only developmental pediatrician in our area.
My husband had an affair in October of 2008. It lasted about 5-6 weeks. It was one of the worst times of my life emotionally, mentally, financially, and physically.
I have chronic kidney stone disease. I have passed so many stones that I have stopped counting. I have had several urterthral stents, lithotripsies and a bucket retrieval method. Ive had stones ranging from 2mm to 2cm.
I had chest surgery in April of 2005 that left me with a lot of pain and nerve damage that bothers me daily.
I lost my father unexpectedly in 2004 to a heart attack.
My son is being evaluated for ADHD, I am 99% positive he has this.
Ive been pregnant 4 times with 3 living children, one not living due to miscarriage. I think I can share some insight to others who are pregnant :)
I'm married but I'm so lonely. Long story..
