Please do not be discouraged by the Alcoholism fanatics.
A good doctor knows a LOT more about alcoholism then any of us drunks.
Best of luck!

Just a hug of support for you. I've never tried any of the meds you're talking about, but my shrink had suggested Campral for me. My doctor was unfamiliar with it and was hesitant to prescribe it to me as I was getting on an antidepressant at the same time. I'm all for whatever helps you to get a jump start on sobriety! I'm also here to support you in any way I can.
I’m With You
I went to AA in 1975 and I did not think I was alcoholic... but something 'clicked' and I decided to not drink or do drugs for one year....
Fast forward to 2009 - I am still sober!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, even though I did not think I was 'that bad', I found that I wasn't really taking an accurate accounting of my drinking. It actually took a few years for me to get an accurate account of just how bad my drinking was.....
I am so with you! Just stay sober no matter how you feel, it matters more what you do.

Hope your finding this recovery deal a bit easier.
