    • About Me

RN, beat up by the job but I love my patients. Trauma of the jobs injuries, and PTSD triggering my fibro. This is not an uncommon background for so many sufferers of fibro, some sort of trauma triggers the condition. I was a wife of an alcoholic who left my son and myself while we were celebrating his 1st birthday at my sister in law's house. It was a good thing though, and I didn't cry for that at all, it was a sense of relief. I was the sole income then so it was not a loss there either. When the fibro started showing it's ugly head I could not stand my son's hugging me it hurt so bad, but I had taught him to give hugs. I learned about fibro from a friend and talked to my Dr who assessed me and said 'yes, you have it ' and that was all. As is typical of a nurse, I wound up supporting others 1st then myself. I learned about fibro by investigating it for my patients and teaching them.

      Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
Therapy was helpful to get me through the stress of work and the pain it was causing me physically. I was going 2xwk sometimes because of the stress. I was not working the floors by then I was working for a company doing disease management who required a call for a pt last only 6 min you can not do justice for a pt in 6 min. it was micromanaged and staff were actually having heart attacksasthma attacksme as one of themangina while working. If they slipped and fell outside they did not call for help.

      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
This is what started working most recently. I have been working w QiGong and that has become the most helpful for me as well as others that I have seen. It has also given me hope for a future career as a nurse.
      Meditation Working / Worked
Working and using intermitantly. but soon to make more regular due to plans on making it my practice as a nurse. Has been an incredible journey for my increased well being. Is a meditative gentle breathing exercise. QiGong
      Paxil Working / Worked
Didnt really help. Tried it for couple yrs but not noticed any improvement. Got off it and actually noticed feeling better more organized and more chipper. Am not a believer of taking antidepressants wo getting therapy .
