    • About Me

Was in bad car crash 03/17/1993 with head injury. Eye doctor kept telling me for 5 years something was not quite normal about my optic nerves. Finally, October 1998 I was diagnosed with PTC when I started having symptoms of a brain tumor. I have been on 4 medications (Diamox, Topamax, Celebrex, and Prozac) ever since. I have had a total of 58 lumbar punctures and no surgery. I feel I have been very fortunate. Thank you so much for the hug. I have found so much inspiration on this site, and hope you do, too. I wasa diagnosed two years ago with PTC and can relate to any misery related. I look forward to talking to you.

I was diagnosed with PTC October 1998, have had alot of difficulties with trying to keep a job for the past 2 years.

      Treatments

      Topamax Working / Worked
Topamax is great for my PTC, but it does make me terribly depressed and mood -swingy, so my doctors added 20mg to 40 mg of Prozac daily to counter act the depression and stuff...I take 200 mg per day. Also, my teeth have been greatly affected by this drug. I have had many of my teeth removed due to abcessed root canals.
      Acetazolamide Working / Worked
Has really worked great for me in the past. I take 2000 mg per day usually when I have it. Currently I am out of it. I have had tingling problems in the past but have learned you have to take this med at specific times each day, especially if you are on the generic and not Diamox Sequel. It has greatly helped me in the past 11 years.
