Journal Entry for November 5, 2009 Mood
Thursday, November 5, 2009
I am also suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia and am totally sleep deprived!  The only way is to take short naps between the blasts of pain.  I sit up in a recliner and nod off when I have a pain break which is not very long but anythng helps. (3-5 mins. each time)  I am also finding some relief by taking ice water and sipping it and holding it to the back of my mouth.  I let it drain to the side where I am having the pain and it seems to calm it down for a few minutes.  I then slip into my nap of course only to wake up a few minutes later.  However by repeating this over an over I get some rest.  The only other way I have found is to put ice on the side that hurts and hold it there as long as you can.  It will calm the area down so you can go to sleep.  For some reason when you are sleeping, the nerve does not fire.  I know this is all excruciating!  I have never experienced pain like this before!
