Adapting Mood
Saturday, November 7, 2009 | A General Update story

Recently moved to a night shift. Not the "change in my life" I was looking for!

I'm trying to change my life and get out of this internal rut I am feeling.

The physical change, meaning the shift and time move is not the problem, I have been on swing and night shifts before and they have been benificial.

Herein lies the issue.

One of my strenghts (in the working world at least) is my ability to adapt and change quickly to arising situations, to be a utility person that can be thrown into any situation to make things better for all. Good so far-right?

Was asked to work nights to help support some manpower issues, like vacations, upcoming night projects. I have done this before and then return to my [previously] normal shift.

Well, this time projects and manpower issues are under control. Temporary turned to indefinite, and looking more as permanent. I am not getting answers when asking management about timeframe.

I feel as though, there is a push to hide me in the corner, don't let him use his best qualities to support the company, kick him while he's down.

This would normally be my time to flourish, as Nights have always been my springboard to improving my career. A coworker on nights is a very strong, controlling, outspoken, my way or the hiway type of person. This person is keeping me pinned to the ground, making it impossible for me to progress in any way.

I am always up for a challenge, I'm just not willing at this time in my life for challenges that I can not succeed at!
