Close Fibromyalgia
I've recently been diagnosed with FM, although I've had all the symptoms for about 35 years
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Felt wonderful when I had access to a tub
- Cyclobenzaprine Working / Worked
- When I take it, I don't get as many muscle spasms and numbness in my hands
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Seems to help the pain, but not so good for fatigue and my other depression symptoms (I also have SAD)
- Elavil Somewhat Helpful
- Gained huge amounts of weight, not very helpful
- Heat Working / Worked
- Morphine Working / Worked
- Neurontin Not Working
- I could tolerate the 16 hours of sleep during my supposedly daytime hours!
- TENS Working / Worked
- I just got my new TENS. I had one 25 yrs ago, which stopped functioning 15 yrs ago. Already the new one is helping significantly
- Ultram Working / Worked
Close Chronic Pain
I've had Chonic Pain for the last 35 years and need to talk to others about it.
Treatments
- Acupressure Working / Worked
- 1985 at a inpatient pain clinic- helped a lot
- Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
- 1980's- Made my back so much worse. It turns out I have Hypermobility syndrome, so even the gentlest manipulation put me in bed for a week
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- 2009- works well, but not the end-all-be-all. Doesn't do much for my actual depression, does help the pain
- Flexeril Working / Worked
- 2001-present- works well. It keeps me from having so many muscle spasms and keeps some of my ulnar nerve pain from happening
- Heat Working / Worked
- I LOVE heat! It always helps
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- 1995-present- I take the Extra-Strength Vicodin (5mg Hydrocodone/325 mg Acetaminphen). This is my daily break-through pain med.
- Lyrica Considering
- Meditation Working / Worked
- I use commercial Relaxation tapes as well as meditative prayer. Boy does that prayer work!
- Methadone Working / Worked
- 1996-2009 Works well, but took my PM doc 4 months to convince me to try it because of the social stigma. I was accused by a family court judge of being a former Heroin addict. She didn't know any better!
- Morphine Somewhat Helpful
- 1996- worked very well short-term, but caused me to stop being able to pee! I spent a horribly painful day and ER visit. Will only use it after surgeries (inpatient)
- Naproxen Not Working
- Never did anything-like taking a sugar pill
- Nerve Blocks Considering
- Neurontin Not Working
- 2008- At the lowest dose, I slept about 16 hours a day, during the daytime!!. I never tried higher doses.
- Oxycodone Not Working
- doesn't work well for me, just messes with my head and keeps me from sleeping
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- Many times in last 35 yrs. Always is helpful, but currently I can't afford the 33% copay. I'd like to use this more.
- TENS Working / Worked
- 1985-1995 and 2009 again- This is the best thing in the world. I just got my new one and have cut my short-acting med by half.
- Prolotherapy Working / Worked
- 1997 I now believe it was helpful but didnt think so at the time
- Sinemet Somewhat Helpful
- I prefer the heat but sometimes...
