Close Pulmonary Embolism
I was recently diagnosed with a PE and this seems like a really great place to find some of the awnsers I've been looking for.
Treatments
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- So far no side effects and seems to be doing the trick. Im only 4 days into this treatment though so well see how the long term is.
Close Hydrocephalus
My husband has hydrocephalus

- Shunts Working / Worked
- My husband has had 3 shunts placed since he was 2 months old.
Open Migraine Headaches
I've suffered with migraines for 8 years and counting
Treatments
- Amerge Working / Worked
- I use 2.5mg as needed at onset. I do experience a little drowsiness and it can take an hour to 2 hours to work sometimes.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- I don't drink red wine any more.
- Excedrin Working / Worked
- I used to use this a lot in the past until I was educated about rebound headaches and the fact that this drug can be major cause of them.
- Fioricet Not Working
- This drug never worked for me.
- Imitrex Working / Worked
- I had this as injectable once in Urgent care, but it caused a very alarming sensation of my throat closing. Luckily it didn't actually close, but it wasn't pleasant.
- Magnesium Working / Worked
- I have headaches that are linked with my period and I used to get 2gm of IV Magnesium every month right around the week of my period. This did work wonders for me. Then my pattern changed again. I stopped the Magnesium and the headaches have been okay.
- Maxalt Somewhat Helpful
- I used to use the 5mg but it made my throat feel like it was closing. It also would take nearly 4 hours sometimes to start working.
- Naproxen Not Working
- Never really did much for me.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- I think this has had the effect on my headaches yet. I'm on 100mg daily. The only side effects I really experience are the drowsiness and the tingling toes and fingers.
