Hi there,
That's awesome that you spend your time with the autistic society. It seems to me that there isn't enough support out there for ADHD kids, but, hey, we have this site to offer support! It's the main reason I joined this, to see if there were others out there who were in the same boat as me.
I come from the West Midlands and there is an Autistic centre, not close, but within reach. But ADHD groups? None.
Anyway, thanks for your message, hope you will keep in touch with me.
All the best to you.
Dolly X
Just a hug to make you feel better.
For all that it is worth and all the Moms that have come to my distress, you guys are so BEAUTIFUL and GOOD MOMS. We are all trying are best to do what is best for our children. I too have had doctors changing Bailee's meds all the time but usually a month or two between. After 3 years, we still don't have it right! We just started seeing the psychiatrist instead of the pediatrician but sometimes I just feel so discouraged. Being the single mom that I am, I always think I am such a terrible mom because of the schools complaining, family complaining BUT they are not the ones that live with or love your child 24 hours a day!!!! We are good parents by at least trying our best. At least now with this support group, I know I am not alone and you guys are the BEST. Hold your head up 'Harrysmum' - try to remember your good days; don't know about you but my good days are few. Today just seems to be the better of them (but its only 7 am) :)
I know it is very confusing right now for you and I am so sorry. Luke used to bite himself and bang his head against anything that was near but he wasn't on meds. The doctor told me that he also has a mood disorder,at the age of three! How can doctors say that a three year old has a mood disorder? He is 7 now and he doesn't hit or bite anymore. Just don't put Harry on medication for 2 weeks and then on something else for 2 weeks and keep switching him around every 2 weeks. I did that to Luke and I felt horrible. I felt bad because he was only 4 and I know that his little body and little brain was probably so mixed up from all the drugs. The medication needs more time to get through his system for it to really work. I wonder if there is anything more mild to put Harry on? That is what I am checking into for Luke right now. Do what you think is right and tell the school to be patient! Keep your chin up! You are in my thoughts and prayers!
My 6 year old son has just been diagnosed with ADHD. I have an 11 year old daughter with Autism but dont have any support networks for ADHD.
