Sarah my dear: it sounds like a myth and you cant even imagine it is a sentence to a lifetime of this .... You have to be able to imagine a better life and see yourself in our mind healed and being well. In your head is where so much of illness and sickness starts in the first place and that's good because it means our minds and our thoughts can get us back to a life of being healthy again. good luck Sarah and be at peace in this life. dennis

    • Close Narcolepsy

I was diagnosed Narcoleptic in 2004, having experienced most of the symptoms since puberty. I'm still finding it hard to deal with, and i'd love to meet and speak with anyone else who has narcolepsy.

      Treatments

      Dexedrine Somewhat Helpful
If i use it as a "once in a while, special occaision" booster, it works reasonably well. Using it on a regular basis leaves me extremely tense, headaches, jaw aches, neck & shoulder aches etc, and utterly wiped out for days after 4 or more days taking it.
      Provigil Not Working
Did nothing, except dramatically increase the amount of headaches and migraines i suffer from occaisionally.
      Ritalin Not Working
Didnt feel much effect from this at all.
      Anafranil Somewhat Helpful
This might sound dreadful but i cant bear to take it. It worked in that it almost got rid of Cataplexy completely. Which is why I really cant cope with taking it. As perverse as i must sound having Cataplexy is the only thing that keeps me convinced that my condition is real and genuinely something i cant controll. Too many years of being convinced I was just a pretty crazy Lazy useless waster...
