Well, for not going to the gym in a week and only gaining 1.5 pounds, I'm not so mad.
I now weight 196.

Sometimes just maintaining is a great goal and accomplishment... especially when we have days where we just want to stuff our faces. Just don't give up!!! You can and will do it!!! It helps me A LOT to use some positive self talk... I tell myself I am satisfied, and after hearing it a few times I believe it and can push the food away. Weird, huh?
I'm trying to stick to 1500 but yesterday was my 'fat day' and I went over. I work out about an hour a day. About 20 to 30 minutes of cardio and 30 or 40 minutes of weights and stretching.
To lose my initial 20 pounds I joined an aerobics class and a sports and conditioning class at my high school.
I've found that high weight low rep is more beneficial than low weight high rep because you build muscle faster and muscle burns fat.
I also learned some good news in my nutrition class...
10% of the calories you consume are burned simple to digest the food. 50-70% of the calories you consume are burned by basal metabolism (breathing, pumping blood etc.) so you only have to burn off a little more than 20-40% of what you consume. Interesting huh!
Thanks for the high five:D It put a smile on my face. To lose weight I am doing it the plain Jane diet and exercise. Not to say I'm on any specific diet I'm just trying to get in a lot of fruits and vegetables, fat free milk, and bringing consumption of fried foods and deserts to about once a week. For me it's important not to deny myself anything because I'll just want it more and more and eventually eat a huge amount. I try to follow the laws of moderation! lol. I've hit my barrier I think. I used to be 140 and I got down to 120 but I've been bouncing around from 120 to 125 for a year and I hope to be bouncing from 115 to 120. That's my story. Thanks for your encouragement.
Good Job on your weight loss so far. I think I lost 1 pound last week...
Hi Juli -- I just read about your kitty in the Pet Bereavement group and wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. We lost our little girl, Nannie, this past July, so I understand what an emptiness that leaves. For you, though, it sounds like losing your Nitro was so sudden and unexpected, and that makes the grieving so much harder. I'm wishing you lots of healing in the days ahead. Hugs, Jen
