Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis

I have been dealing with Crohn's at least 23 years. One bowel-resection, several fistual surgeries. Pain without meds is usually an 8. I can get it down to 4-6 to take care of my daughter and work. Sleep as much as I can. Gastro is good, but ancient. Allows darvon and tylenol.

Treatments

Asacol Somewhat Helpful

Usually on three to four meds at a time, so it's hard to tell.

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked

Liquid is great if you don't have to get off the couch.

Azathioprine Working / Worked

Using now in combination with Humira and Endacort. Not working now, 4 hours of energy on a good day. No pain relief

Azulfidine Not Working

I seem to remember having a bad side effect to this one...

Dietary Modification Working / Worked

Liquid is great if you don't have to get off the couch.

Entocort Working / Worked

Using now in combination with Humira and Endacort. Not working now, 4 hours of energy on a good day. No pain relief

Flagyl Working / Worked

Lialda Too Soon to Tell

Prednisone Not Working

Prescribed on and off for years. Now have extremes of all side effects--weight gain, voracious appetite, facial mooning, psychotic episodes, including suicidal thoughts.

Probiotics Considering

Remicade Working / Worked

Didn't deal well with the side-effects--migraine-like headaches, more arthritis, etc

Surgery Not Working

Disease recurred at the site of the resection within 18 months to two years.

Humira Working / Worked

Still experimenting, but like the delivery method, minimal side effects. 40mg per week. Overall treatment has not been effective.

Azathioprine Working / Worked

Hard to say since I'm taking the other meds. Can't distinguish any side effects. Again, overall treatment has not been effective.

Entocort Working / Worked

Hard to say since I'm taking the other meds. Can't distinguish any side effects. Again, overall treatment has not been effective.
