I'm 59 and live alone. I use oxygen at night 1 to 1 1/2 liters while sleeping. 2 liters with activity and 1 liter prn during the day. I have a care giver who comes in 2x a month to clean and now will be here every Wed to help with my shower to decrease the anxiety level. I have a copd case manager at the VA as I am a vet and get my health care there most of the time.

I enjoy reading, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, playing on my computer, challenge days on Wednesday's(Club Pogo) and going to my AA meetings and being around people but love my alone time too. My new kitten brings me much joy also.

Nice to know I wasn't just being a bit compulsive. Wonder why the insomnia and anxiety levels are up? Due to flu season or weather changes? Humm....

Oh- I forgot... for me when I feel I cannot breath, I turn on a fan and have it blow in my face.. my kids even bought me a silly folding Japanese style hand fan to keep in my purse if I'm out and about. Just having air blowing in my face seems to remind me that there's still air out there and I can still breath.
The site I'm sending is a bit wordy and long but has some great information and techniques to also try. Hope it helps a bit

From others on this site, I've found we aren't alone. Anxiety can be triggered by shortness of breath ( even with sats fine) or Anxiety can just be triggered by itself.
Some folks have said the higher steam of the shower can trigger a breathless feeling if that's what's occurring. For me, the energy expelled by just washing and shampooing can wear me down.
Try your pursed lip breathing as you feel the panic starting and see if that helps.

on line and the ones I get out to. I am hoping this site will help me with issues that come up at times. I do have a care giver that comes in and meals on wheels.
