    • Close Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)

I developed atrial fibualation 17 years ago. It has been controlled by a succession of medications with episodes requiring hospitalization about twice a year. I had an ablation 3 years ago after reacting negatively to my long term medication Tambocor and developed Atrial Flutter. The ablation corrected that deviation. I still have Atrial Fibulation, finding a medication that suits is the current issue.

      Treatments

      Digoxin Somewhat Helpful
Originally I was prescribed Digoxin, it worked reasonably well but the pulse increased over time. There was no effort to change the dose at the time so changed. I have recently requested another period on Digoxin with better monitoring as I suffer unreasonable side effects with other medications
      Diltiazem Somewhat Helpful
Sterted Diltizem 3 years ago after ablation was done after very negative response to Tambocor. I developed peripheral neuropathy with Diltiazem and suffered extreme pain in both legs and swelling of legs. The drug did control my heart well wih occasional episodes of 160+ HBeat.
      Metoprolol Somewhat Helpful
Have tried beta blockers twice now. First time i developed sleeping problems, the second time the same and the QT interval lengthened too much.
