Close Prolactinoma
At 16 my parents sent to me the Gyno. because i had no period. Blood results showed that my Prolactin level was 560. MRI showed an adenoma. I began Dostinex and got my period the next month. I stayed on Dostinex for 3 yrs, but then the FDA announced that Dostinex caused heart problems. A heart Echo showed irregularities in my heart valves so i discontinued Dostinex. Levels were elevated again within a year of being off Dostinex, so I'm beginning treatment again at a lower dosage.
Treatments
- Dostinex Working / Worked
- it worked. No side effects. But when my Endocrinologist ordered an echocardiogram, the results showed minor valve regergitation on two of my heart valves. So I discontinued treatment and within a year or two my prolactin level was abnormal. My doctor just prescribed me Dostinex, but he hopes that by taking it once every two weeks instead of twice a week, it will be better.
