Oprah Windfrey
I am wondering how many of us saw the Oprah show that had the brain scientist on her show that wrote a book about her experience. It really …
Ralph is my husband of 35 yr 11/20/05 he suffered a major stoke due to a brain aneurysm . He has been retired 8 years. Sun. morning he had a terrible headace and I new there was something terribly wrong, they told us for the 6 weeks in intensive care that he would never make it and that he would never lift his head off the pillow. I stayed by my husbands side from before 8:00 am - 10:00 pm. It has been 2 years on November 20 since the stroke, We have battled, and battled and battled. We had to fight hard and long to get some help. We wound up having to move from ward to ward due once to them putting Ralph in with 2 contagious deceases, the second one being life threating, the third move to was a ward that we were there in Jan and a little in february, the scheduled physio for that floor gave us very little help, the only two were from this first floor, they were wonderful and kind of gave me ideas on how to bring the love of my life back to me. Our family doctor (we love him) I had told him what Ralph was doing, he went right down stairs and that day he was in the physio wing, he was there about 4 week, and then we had to transfer to another hospital, where the pysiatrist told us that we had maximun 5 1/2 week that was it. He ordered the angiogram a week before ralph was discharged and thats when we found out he was a ticking time bomb and needed surgery, we then had to wait 4 months after that to get clipping done to these aneurysms at a completely different hospital, completely different city, it has been uphill all the way, but do you know what, we are doing it, he continues to improve and fight hard as hell, he tells everyone that "His body is back to normal" and that he is roaring to go. We were just reminded that we looking at him should know better that he had a stroke and he will never be the same. I dearly love him and we have the most wonderful loving family and a very few close friends to support us. We are very fortunate, before the stroke we had 3 grandchildren, we know have six, and we both love them all dearly and they are the lights of our lives along with their parents (our 3 amazing children)

Ralph loves swimming, hiking, walking, fixing things around the house, house cleaning (nothing is ever clean enough for him)and I let him go to it. He has a special room with an old piece of furniture that the top lifts up that has a turntable, eight track tape player and a complet stero system. He spends a lot of time their planning our trip, practicing his writing, reading his newspapers, and above all listening to his most favourite music. He is also working on our trip for July 2008 that we have planned, and trust me he has a lot to do. He also loves to spend time with his family. He is the love of my life, and he will grow continually and every day he will fight this horrible thing that happened to him.

Ralph (my husband) had a major stroke 11/20/05 he should have died, he didn't, It has been a long hard battle, 6 months after stoke he got anurysm surgery, only becaus of his good health, we had to fight and do 90% of his care ourselves, and unfortunately you learn only after you have been through hell and back. My husband has aphasia and appraxia, very poor short term memory, he has lost partial vision in his left eye. It has been 18mon & counting, have faith, joanne
My Ralph has apahsia and apraxia from a major stoke in November 20, 2005. This is the most heartbreaking part of this whole thing, he has a hard time saying what he wants, remembering name of his grandchildren and other freinds, sometime the wrong word will just pop out, and sometimes when you ask him a question it does not seem to reach his brain he quite ofen cannot answer the question the correct way. He gets a little fustrated and we try our best to help him get through it I am Joanne lohl
