About Me
Hi I'm Kimberly. I have FMS and CFS as the result of getting hit in two seperate car accidents - the first was '97 and the second was '02. I've spent the last seven years getting through the damage done to my body and my mind, and am in a better place at this time, but strongly feel the need for support groups as in giving and receiving advice, etc. I finally won my disability in '02, and do part time work for a college friend as a cyber PA. I have a great daughter who lives with me as well.

Interests
The gorgeous city of San Francisco; London; Manhattan, Mackinac Island, MI, Maui, Waikiki, kauii, HI and Seattle. (I love to travel) I am also a writer and am working on my first book, plus I consider the local Public Library whereever I am, to be my personal toy store! My Grand Passion would have to be music. I am quite veratile in the various genres I love, and at this point in time, am .., reluctant, but open to discovering some new music I wouldn't have found on my own! I call these "gems!" My music collection is intense, not to mention my literature, films and I've starated to collect art here and there in the last fifteen years or so. I love going to gallery openings and just browsing until I find something I just can't live without! I also collect unusual "NOT mainstream" Marilyn Monroe prints, coffee table books, and the like, and the same with my huge passion for all things "Titanic". I have quite a collection re the latter as well. I consider myself a "survivor" in the world of Invisible Diseases, and the whole "You don't LOOK sick!" mentality. I try very hard to keep a positive attitude and keep my wicked sense of humor! We should all try to laugh at least once everyday, I promise, you'll feel so GOOD! I should mention that I am from San Francisco, but now residing near Palm Springs, CA.

Support Groups
Close Fibromyalgia
I suffer from FMS and CFS since my first car accident in '97. I'm looking for a good support group.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- I tried it after my second ordeal with being "hit and run", and I actually LIKED it! I would do it again.
- Aqua Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- it tends to get too hot and I have to step into the pool and cool off - I actually prefer the cool water.
- Heat Working / Worked
- It has worked, generallly when I take an aromatherapy neck pilow I have (Lavendar and Rosemary) and microwave it and put a towel around my shoulders lie back to ease the knots and pain in my neck and shoulders. I like to alternate using cold paks too, but usually only when my mid back acts up.
Close Breakups & Divorce
I'm having a tough time getting over someone I was with for 7 years, dumped me in '01 and again in '09!! He's like a bad drug habit or something, but he's definintely "under my skin" and affecting my dating choices now!
Treatments
- Forgiveness Somewhat Helpful
- Turned into him giving me a guilt trip after I tried the "closure" thing (seven years after he dumped me for a horrible person who told me some horrible things), and an eight month, once a week "booty call" on the "down low", then he dumped me again!! (said he wanted to "settle down, get married" - OUCH).
- Leave Not Working
- I rebounded with a guy 3 thousand miles away in New York in '02, only to get hit by another car and become more disabled with my FMS!!
- Love Working / Worked
- It worked years ago - we always broke up and got back together again, until THAT THING from HELL took him away from me in '01.
- Music Somewhat Helpful
- Music is my life, next to writing, and we started out with "Enya" to go to sleep (back in the "honeymoon" phase of our relationship, and it ended with me listening to Dido, Sarah Brightman and Evanescence and SOBBING into my pillow on a daily basis!
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I go, I listen, I understand, and yet I still have the dreams/nightmares about him, and am making bad choices in my dating life now.
- Reading Not Working
- HE bought all the "Venus/Mars" dvds, and we watched them (towards the end), with me trying desperately to stay awake, they were so boring!!
- Talking Somewhat Helpful
- I'm a writer, so I do a lot of Journalizing, Tape Recording (dreams, thoughts, rants, whatever). and it helps..., to a point.
- Time Not Working
- (see: "Forgiveness" and the reason I'm here to begin with!)
Open Chronic Pain
I have FMS as a result of TWO seperate car crashes!
Treatments
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- My pain doctor has me on a "maintenance dose" of Norco everyday. Definitely takes the edge off the everyday pain.
- Lidoderm Somewhat Helpful
- Temporary relief of back and joint pain.
- Lyrica Not Working
- I had EVERY side effect on this thing!
- Marijuana Working / Worked
- I don't like to smoke it, but on the rare occassion that I do, I am relaxed and able to sleep.
- Meditation Considering
- But I still live with my teenager and her cat (that I'm allergic to), so it "hasn't happened yet." (hoping to start soon though)
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- I take Percocet ONLY for when my back pain gets really bad. It helps, but it also stops you up, so be sure to take a Senokot tablet when you take one.
- Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Walking (in the winter here in the desert where I live, or in the mall where it's cool, and I highly recommend an iPod Shuffle to "clip on and go" - it's a great motivator!) and Swimming (when I have access to a pool) and Stretching (I used to be a trained dancer, so I still have "muscle memory" and it feels GREAT to stretch!)
