Close Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Diagnosed 2 yrs ago. My ex husband and I tried for a year to conceive...but as our marriage fell apart, I knew a child wasn't a good idea anyways. I don't think I'll ever have children now.
Treatments
- Metformin Working / Worked
- Periods are more regular now, but sometimes 2-3 days late. I do have some yucky side effects though.
- Oral Contraceptives Working / Worked
- In addition to the Metformin, my doctor put me on it. I take Yasmin.
- Pataday Not Working
- Right now I have no health insurance...one of the great perks of being self employed I guess. So without the metformin and birth control. My periods have stopped again and I can feel the weight coming back on. Hopefully within a month or two I will have insurance again.
Close Obesity
I have been overweight my entire life. Moved over into the "obesity" category this year after finding out I have PCOS, apparently the two go hand in hand. I am now down 33 pounds!
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Lost 50 pounds by cutting out all carbohydrates, only to gain it all back because I couldn't keep it up.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- Joined Lifetime Fitness on June 15th. Hope this helps A LOT. Need to firm up and loose the weight in my midsection especially.
- NutriSystem Not Working
- Didn't like their food and I got edema in my legs from the high sodium content. I only used it for a week.
Open Financial Challenges
After getting divorced, I find myself a single woman trying to run a business with multiple credit cards and business loans... and a HEFTY mortgage payment all on my own.
Treatments
- Budgeting Working / Worked
- So far I am keeping my head above water, but I still do not have the lifestyle I would like to have. It is still a daily struggle for me, but I keep trudging along.
- Cut Up Credit Cards Somewhat Helpful
- I can't live without credit cards at this point. Because I run a small business, I sometimes find them a necessary evil. Although, I try not to use them if I can avoid it.
- Earn Money Too Soon to Tell
- Trying to do more to advertise my business... hoping to get 3 more clients so that I have a full client list. Although, the thought of paying more money out to advertise my vacancies makes me cringe. So I'm giving out incentive checks to my current clients if they will refer people to my business.
- Holding a Garage Sale Considering
- Thinking of trying this one. I have some things I'd like to get rid of in a garage sale. And I think there is a lot I could sell on E-bay. I also do crafts in my spare time, so if worse comes to worse, I could always start selling my crafts on there...I make wreaths and ornaments.
