    • About Me

Mother of a 46 year daugther who has stage 4 liver disease. She was diagnosed April, 2008. She has had ups and downs and from time to time drank on occasion. Her father and I have at times become very weary in her not taking our advice on what she could do to prolong her life. We live in Virginia and she lives in Florida. She is single Mom of a 16 year old boy, our grandson. His Dad died from Cirrohsis of the liver in 2003. She had a TIPS procedure last November/2008 and now it is not functioning and she has to go for parencentisis every 4-6 days. We were told last week that she only has a year to live. She has yet to be put on a liver transplant list. She is presently being evaluated for this. She is presently in counseling to help cope and make decisions. Question for forum: Has anyone had this experience where the TIPS malfunctioned and what was done? Thanks for the input.
