I Just Don't Understand Mood
Sunday, October 18, 2009 | A Frustrating story

My neurologist has me on Diamox 1000mg a day, Compazine 10mg 3 a day, Zanaflex 4mg 1/2 3 aday and 2 for severe headaches and then Maxalt MLT 10mg And this is how it's read to take it  Place one by mouth on the tongue until dissolved immediately may repeat after 2 hours if needed ** Max of 2 per per day and 3 per week** Now my Question is most of this don't help my headaches and my neurologist does not want to give me pain killers as he calls them because he says they can cause more headaches. So should I get a second opinion ? I really don't know what to do but I do know I don't want to sleep my life away and thats whats happening. Anyone with and answer or suggestions Please feel free to write back.

You might want to go out to the forum area to ask advice, most won't see the questions here. Diamox takes awhile to work, it won't lower your pressure overnight, the other meds? I have no idea. I only take diamox. Diamox may not work for you but you need to give it time. When I was first diagnosed I slept or spent all my time on the couch for weeks. The first 2 months were pure hell. The meds made me feel worse than the disease, but I wanted to save my vision. Of course everyone is different. How is your vision? How high was your pressure, are your headaches tolerable? I have a million questions. I think your neuro is right, rebound headaches occur with pain meds. Try over the counter meds for headaches. Also, you don't want to treat them with pain meds now if you may need them worse at a later time, we become immune to all meds eventually.
I hope this helps a little, click the pseudo tumor support group and ask for advice in a chat. =) lots of great people out there.
