    • Close Amyloidosis

I have been recently diagnosed with Amyloidosis. Because this is such a rare disease not many people know about it. I have many questions and who better to chat to than the people who are in the support network

    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

I am a manic depressant and I am trying to find innovative ways of managing this...

      Treatments

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
You can learn effective techniques that are less harmful than drugs. Especially breathing & relaxation exercises definitely works
      Effexor Working / Worked
      Was'nt effective, discontinued
      Electroconvulsive therapy Not Working
It was a horrible experience. Do not recommend. It was only used because I was very ill and was not responding to any treatment. Bad idea....
      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
Helps you feel better about yourself and elevate your situation, not always easy but frequent good thoughts certainly helps fight depression.
      Prozac Working / Worked
Finally, something positive. It has helped keep me on an even keel. It's been 3 years now.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Therapists are qualified and can advise & guide you accordinly. Talking definitely helps, especially talking to somebody who can help make a difference
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
It is imperative that you have a strong support structure. Depression is a disease that emphasises lonliness, you need all the love and support you can get to cope through your rough patches...
      Writing Working / Worked
Definitely helps. A problem shared is a problem halved, there isn't always someone you can share with. It's also very effective because you can go back and re-evaluate and check progress.
