Friday, November 6, 2009 | A Rambling story

This weeks has been crazy busy as I gear up at work for multiple Gala events this month.  Work has turned out to be a blessing for me, and for hubby during this waiting. . .waiting. . .waiting.  Appointment with surgeion getting closer - only 11 more days.  Somedays I'm crazy with the waiting, yet terrified of the surgery coming at the same time.  We've settled back into life, working, laughing, loving, just being us.  I am so blessed to be married to such an amazing man!  Our plan is for Art to continue to work until he decides not to - he can retire anytime but prefers to work.  I'll be working for quite a few more years so I told him he could stay home and take care of the dogs!  :-)  Maybe a new puppy then.  What's one more Shiloh Shepherd when you've got two giants already!

Now is quiet and I've shut my office door.  Just started getting anxious all of a sudden and needed some DS time I think.  I wonder how anyone could ever get through something like this without faith?  If the Lord doesn't fill your heart and you don't believe, really believe, what is there?  I can't even imagine. . .faith, family and friends.

On an up note, dad is home.  He's on oxygen and still takes liquid through a tube.  It will be like this a few weeks until the next surgery.  The next surgery will, as he describes, be pouring cement in the spine to shore everythign up.  Praise the Lord he came through this difficult spinal surgery at his age.  The men in my life are quite the challenge right now!  :-)

Faith, don't know what I'd do without it! Be gentle with yourself when the anxiety rears it's ugly head. Bad days, good days. Ups and downs. Lots of them. Get some rest before surgery, Art will need you to be strong for him and able to help when he's home after surgery. Take all your questions to the consult with the surgeon, so you know what to expect. And don't forget about your friends here when the going gets tough - lots of wonderful people care about what you are going through.

Glad to hear your dad is home, and hoping the next step goes smoothly. I know what you mean about the men in your life - my dad is in a nursing home with advanced Parkinsons's disease, and is having some challenges right now. It can be overwhelming, as you know full well.

Keep your focus on your faith when the anxious thoughts come. You will find rest for your soul in God's peace.

Karen - thanks for the advice about getting rest before surgery. Hadn't thought about that. . .and you're right, I need to write down questions to know what to expect. Praying that surgery is scheduled soon after the visit or I may go postal on somebody. :-)

I would never forget you and everyone on DS. . .what a blessing it was that I found this site when I did.

    Love, Carol
