About Me
I'm a college student, planning on majoring in Architecture. I love to paint, cook, listen to music, read, watch tv. I'm not very social outside of my family circle. I still live with my parents, two brothers, and my sister, all younger than me. I was diagnosed with MG during my senior year in high school but had developed the symptoms sometime at the age of 17. It started off moderate but then it became severe. I had a thymectomy in December 2006 and have gotten progressively better since.

Hugbook
Gold Star
I am so glad for you. Congratulations.
Hug
Thanks for the hug. I see that you have had surgery for MG and have chest pain due to the surgery. I also had surgery march 06 and suffered for years with pains in the chest until I did some rehab physio to strengthen the chest muscles, six months on - no chest pain at all! Might be worthwhile for you. Anyway thanks for the hug!

Close Myasthenia Gravis
trying to meet people who've had similar experiences.
Treatments
- Mestinon Working / Worked
- When I was first diagnosed, it was the only medication I was prescribed and it worked pretty good but as time went by I had to increase the doses until it no longer made a difference if I took it or no
- Thymectomy Working / Worked
- So far it has worked wonderfully for me, except for the inconvenience of having to deal with a split breastbone that still hurts when I do some movements. Small price to pay for the strength I have gotten back
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- It helped once the Mestinon stopped working but it wasnt completely effective. I still couldnt walk for more than five minutes before getting tired for the rest of the day. Side effects were bad I developed high blood sugar weight gain GERD and osteoporosis. I was taken off of it gradually after the thymectomy.
Close Bell's Palsy
to learn how others have dealt with Bells palsy and hopefully learn something new
Treatments
- Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- I had to use a device that would shock specific parts of my face which were supposed to be stimulated for better and faster recovery. I dont think it was as good as I expected. But maybe it was just me.
Open Kidney Stones
