Freaking out about Vitreous Detachment Mood
Tuesday, October 6, 2009 | An Anxious story

I had scleral buckle surgery in my left eye six years ago, and it went perfectly, thanks to prompt attention and a wonderful surgeon. At that time, I also had some weak areas lasered in my right eye. About two months ago, I treated myself to PRK, and now have almost 20/20 vision, which is AMAZING, considering I used to have to wear my glasses all the time, even in the shower! However, two weeks ago, I noticed arcs of light and some additional floaters in my right eye. I went to my retina specialist immediately, and he did a check up and said everything looked fine-no new tears, etc. However, I am soo paranoid. I constantly check my vision all day. I'm trying not to lift anything heavy or strain myself (it figures I just got into the habit of lifting weights and exercising again and now I had to stop). My doctor told me that I should just hope the vitreous detaches completely, which most do without any problems. I should be out of the woods in a few months, but I am freaking out! I don't want to have to go through buckle surgery again. I'm also in the middle of a divorce, and a horrible work situation. So, it just seems like every area of my life is difficult right now.
