Journal Entry for February 1, 2009 Mood
Sunday, February 1, 2009

I just talked to the vet.  It took longer to get the bloodwork done than he expected.  I guess they ran a lot of tests.  The good news is it's all clear.  No clotting issues or immune diseases or anything.  Also I updated in my previous journal that the bleeding finally reduced to a stop.

For today we're just picking up some antibiotics and antihistamines for him and keeping an eye on him for a day or two.  There is a possibility that he ruptured a small vessle with all that hard sneezing.

If he's still sneezy or gets bleedy again or gets worse though it will be back to the vet for some procedures in a day or two.  Since the bleeding was from only one nostril they determined that whatever it is is only on one side and can do a scope and see what's up and remove a possible polyp or some tissue or something that may be causing this.  If it's further up he would get his little head x-rayed to see if there is sinus infection in there that they can see somehow irritating the bones or something.  (I can't remember how he explained it now.)

The big thing is that there is no chance that any of this is life threatening!!!

Thank God, and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  The news couldn't possibly have been better.

I know I tend to overstress, but this was so scary for me.  Coughing up blood is usually a really bad sign for pets and people alike.  We are truly  blessed and way lucky.

My kitty man and I will be taking care of eachother for a long time to come still.

Now I'm gonna take my cat back to bed and give into this impending crash.  At least it will be more of a relief crash.

Now if ya'll would just wish me luck shoving pills down Lucifer's throat starting tonight that would be great.  He hates taking medicine.  At this point though I will happily fight him to take his pills.

I glad he is doing better. Sending Prayers for a speedy recovery. I have to wrap my cats in a towel when I give them medicine so I don't get clawed.

WELL GLAD TO HEAR THE NEWS WAS BETTER THAN YOU THOUGHT IT WAAS GOING TO BE.THANK GOD I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL MY PETS ARE PART OF MY FAMILY.ONE SUGGESTION JUST IN CASE YOU'VE NEVER TRIED THIS WHEN GIVING PILLS TO YOUR CAT.FIRST PUT A LITTLE BUTTER ON THE PILL OR CAPSULE IT WILL SLIDE DOWN HIS THROAT BETTER AND THEN GET A TOWEL AND JUST WRAP HIM IN IT MAKE SURE HIS LEGS ARE WRAPPED IN IT AND JUST HIS HEAD IS STICKING OUT,THEN WHILE HOLDING HIM WITH ONE ARM PUT THE PILL IN HIS MOUTH WITH THE OTHER.I WILL ADMIT THIS IS EASIER DONE IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE TO HELP YOU,THEN ONE PERSON CAN HOLD HIM THEN YOU CAN KIND OF PRY HIS MOUTH OPEN AND PUT THE PILL WAY BACK IN HIS THROAT THEN HOLD HIS MOUTH SHUT FOR A LITTLE BIT. GOOD LUCK!! AND I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, TO MUCH STRESS!!! EXPECIALLY WHEN YOU ALREADY ARE FEELING BAD, WELL GET SOME REST BOTH YOU AND LUCIFER!!!

I'm glad he's doing better. Good description above about giving a cat a pill. I was gonna say dip it in tuna kitty food. I usually sit kitty on my lap, wrapped in the towel and use two fingers (left hand)to open his mouth. I get the pill as far down his throat as I can, then hold his mouth closed with the left hand while stroking his throat with the right hand -- that makes him swallow. I'm sure you already know all of this -- just a quick refresher cause we can get foggy with the stress.

Such good news, but I knew it would be!!! Lucifer will def. be your sidekick for years to come.
Kick back, and relax now with 'kitty man' by your side.
    Big Hugs,
    Gabby

Moonwater, you don't know me, but I'm a friend of gabby's and a cat lover. You can buy Pill Pockets that you put the bill in before giving it to the cat. Mine love them.
