About Me
My name is Joanie and our son, Douglas, age 24, died of an accidental drug overdose on July 13th, 2008. This past year I have felt as if I have been on the spin cycle of emotions. I am a retired elementary school teacher and am an inter-faith chaplain currently trying to find my calling once again. I have a beautiful daughter, son-in-law, a granddaughter, grandson and a terrific husband.

Interests
Gardening, camping, being a grammie to two beautiful grandchildren, reading and I've been called a "relational junkie." I love people and especially trying to figure out what makes them "tick." Life is an adventure and I'm ready to begin living mine once again feeling as if I'm thriving and not just surviving.

I have just been reading your journal;and I have to say that you are truly a remarkable woman. Thank you so much for your concern. My son also had a drug problem that was getting rapidly worse when he took his life. And I'll never know for sure, but I feel that it was tearing him up inside and that was part of what made him take his life. Hugs to you too....Joannie
Prayer
Hello, thank you for adding me. I came across your profile and just wanted to say I am terribly sorry to hear about your son. It's very hard losing someone in this way. My childhood best friend overdoses about two years ago. I am still trying to understand why. I pray for answers that may never come, but I just try to remember the great times we had together and that does seem to help. I wish you and your family all the best. You are in my thoughts and prayers! Tanner
