About Me
25 year old woman living in Western Maryland with my fiancée and our 2 cats :). I had bariatric surgery 8/29/08 and was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer at the end of August 2009. I had a total thyroidectomy on 9/9/09 and am having my 1st RAI treatment at the end of October. I'm a very laid-back lady and like to relax more than anything.

More people need to focus on the positive things in life and
not focus on the negative. Prescription drugs cannot make you
100% happy. The drugs can only make you feel more normal.

Close Thyroid Cancer
Type: Papillary CarcinomaWas diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer 8/09, had total thyroidectomy 9/9/09, having 1st RAI 10/09.
Treatments
- Cytomel Working / Worked
- Haven't been on it too long yet, but I won't be on it very much longer before switching to Synthroid only.
- Radioactive Iodine Too Soon to Tell
- Going to have the treatment 10/21/09, lets hope all goes well.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionWas diagnosed with major depression at 15, and am now 25 and still feel depressed on & off, despite therapy & medications.
Treatments
- Effexor Somewhat Helpful
- Was on this for a year or two, felt like it worked somewhat okay for a while, but then felt like it stopped working altogether.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- Seroquel Somewhat Helpful
- Well, it surely did help me sleep.....but it would practically put me into a coma and I did *not* like that at all.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Trazodone Somewhat Helpful
- It helped me sleep for a while, but the more often I took it, the more I felt like I *had* to take it in order to sleep...
- Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
- Was on Wellbutrin a couple different times throughout my years of psychiatric counseling. The first time I took it I felt like it didn't have any effect and the second time I think I felt a bit happier while taking it, but not to my full potential.
- Writing Working / Worked
- I've kept an online journal for many years now and it definitely helps to get my thoughts out on to the screen.
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- I'm currently on Zoloft now, 200mg a day. Like everything else I've been on, I feel like it's helping me a bit, but no medication I've been on thus far has helped me feel 100% happy.
Open GERD & Heartburn
Treatments
- Antacids Not Working
- Pepcid Somewhat Helpful
- Pepto-Bismol Somewhat Helpful
- Prevacid Working / Worked
- Protonix Working / Worked
Open Anxiety
I've suffered from intermittent anxiety for about 10 years now and have been on meds for anxiety since I first felt symptoms.
Treatments
- Atarax Working / Worked
- I've used Atarax sporadically over the past 9 months and it's helped me fall asleep very well.
- BuSpar Working / Worked
- I'm currently on BuSpar and fortunately I haven't needed it too often as of lately, but when I do need it, it works pretty well.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- Xanax Working / Worked
- Xanax worked like a charm every time, but my psychiatrist now refuses to prescribe it to me because he says it's too addicting :(.
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- Taking Zoloft now and my psychiatrist says it's supposed to help with anxiety as well as depression, but I definitely don't notice it being as much of an anxiety reducer compared to other meds specifically for anxiety alone.
