Normal...I don't remember what that feels like. I tried to describe to someone the other day, how my legs felt. This particular day, was "the morning after"...you know the one I mean??? I had spent the prior day working very hard to keep up with some things around the yard. Simple things really can become comical around my home! I guess I should just start with "the day of"...you know, the day before, "the day before"...
....I kept hearing a popping on the roof. The wind was blowing the remnants of Ida off the east coast, so we had massive amounts of rain, and the wind started this whole issue; the "morning after" issue...
It finally stopped raining and the tap tap tap was still going on, so I slipped on some shoes that I NEVER have to tie...do U have those too?...those ugly soft plastic ones that come with a slip up back that keeps one from either having to bend over and push oneself back up or have to pull one's foot up to knee level to be able to tie the strings of...well, I slipped the ugglies on and out the door to investigate...each time the wind blew, I would hear it again...My dogs, who are two male boxers, who live outside in the yard had taken to the front porch of my 'old' farmstyle house; the kind of porch that goes all the way across the front of the house, and usually has a nice chair or swing hanging at one end...alas my dogs eagerly await the next new furniture to gnaw on....
The dogs had taken post on the front steps with their ears perked up and at attention, but making no move to follow me to find the tapping noises...it was as if they already knew the answer and this was going to be FuN for them!
The mystery was pretty quick to find me...As I stepped off the front porch steps, (two small 5" steps) I noticed the wind gusting and looked up just in time to see it!....Moving at the speed of light a Huge Brown UFO flew towards me...it was too late to do anything...it was flying SOoooo fast!...smack! My hands flew up quick, to protect my head from further abuse from the now idenfied UFO's...
...Pecans.
I have two huge old trees in my front yard. Once in each corner. Normally they fall from a week prior to Thanksgiving to a week before Christmas...so this was a UD...."Unexpected Dump"....I had UFO's taking UD's in my front yard! Uhhh oHHH!
This means nothing to you I would imagine, but to me, this means that to preserve MY right to MY pecans, I had to move fast...there are theives that come and grab the nuts almost the same day they fall and help themselves to their fill...even so ill mannered as to leave the shells on the front porch...CAN you IMAGINE! Shells cracked nicely down the middle with the insides gone! Sometimes when they get tired of eating they just leave the pile in front of the door as if leaving a gift..
...the hitch??? My dogs are are the culprits! I promise! I have watched to see who was doing the dirty deed and it my wonderful slobbering boxers! And how PROUD of themselves they are!
So I tell all this so you understand why I have to move quickly; when they start to fall, I have to TRY to move faster! So, the stinkin' wind was blowing my pecans out of the trees, and I spent the day bent over picking them up; stooping down when able. This motion caused my back and the back of my legs to be so sore, i could hardly stand up!
Now I am back to the beginning of the story....sore. Normal. the only way I knew to describe the feeling in my legs was like the one you would feel after the first day of softball practice; the only feelling I could remember that is. I havent run, or even jogged, come to think of it, I haven't even walked fast since I was 15; now being 41, that seems like a lifetime ago. I remember that numb feeling in my legs after running laps when the wind was crisp in early fall when I was in the eighth grade...isn't that weird? Makes me wonder what "normal" means to others. What is normal with MG? Anything? As bizarre as others who are "normal' might find this question of mine...I am really curious now. I am going on a "NormalQuest"!
