I will be arriving at 11:00am on December 4th. I am going back to Webster as my mom is in a nursing home right now. She fell and fractured her femur ... and she has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has a tumor on her liver. I hope she hangs tough until I get there.
If she keeps making improvements she "may" be able to come home from the nursing home. If that's the case, I will be trained on how to care for her by the nursing home staff.
The last time she saw her doctor he told her to start thinking about making arrangements with hospice. I know that no one knows when someone will die but her cancer must be bad. She isn't showing any signs of it but the main thing is her appetite. That may be due to her liver. She went into the nursing home weighing 100 lbs. but in 4 weeks she has gained 25 pounds!!! They have been very good to her. She may have to stay longer and maybe when the cancer gets bad she can come home with hospice care and die at home.
They have her in physical therapy every day for walking, and doing exercises for body strength
I booked a one-way ticket as I have no idea when I will be coming back to CA. My ex-bf (and best friend now) will be staying at my house and caring for the critters (my dog comes to NY with me) He wants me to stay as long as it takes ... I want to be there when my mom dies. I was with my dad holding his hand and I want to do the same thing with my mom.
It's a sad time but I will be so happy going back to see her. I can't wait!!!!!!!!
