    • I’m With You

      From KelleyJ September 26

HI! I have been on Lexapro for almost 6 weeks now. This is the first time that I have ever been on a prescription med to address anxiety. I just want to let you know that Lexapro is working for me. It does not completely alleviate anxiety. For me, it just makes life more manageable and enjoyable. I am less prone to seeing things through an "anxiety filter" if that makes sense. I think it would be a great med to use in conjunction with therapy - although I have not yet tried this! I think Lexapro helps me to function more effectively at work as well. How does it make me feel? More calm, sort of warm/fuzzy at times.
The side effects have been minimal for me.
      Good luck!
      K

    • Close Anxiety

Because I have had anxiety my whole life - 26 years - and I'm finally choosing to do something about it. And I will need support because it is scary and unlike anything else I've ever experienced.

      Treatments

      Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
It think it works while I'm there and even the evening after, but it doesn't have lasting effects and it's expensive.
      Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
I may have this strange breathing disorder where I am slowly hyperventilating. I can't remember what it's called, but my husband found some breathing exercises. I hold my breath for 7 seconds, and breathe it out for 11 seconds. I do this 4 times in a row, twice a day. It feels nice. I also have begun breathing during panic attacks - in through the nose, pause, out through the mouth pause. I do this during stressful situations, too, and it really helps center me.
      Breathwork Working / Worked
      Lexapro Working / Worked
Definitely has made my symptoms and reactions to anxious situations easier to deal with and with little side effects. I have used it since the beginning of Oct. 2009.
      Xanax Too Soon to Tell
I have this for "emergencies" and tried it twice. Mostly, it just made me tired. I am hoping I only have to take the Lexapro once it begins to work.
    • Close Scoliosis

As a child, my mother was told I would grow out of my scoliosis. This is inaccurate, it only gets worse if left untreated, so here I am 26 years old trying to fix a 38 degree curve.

      Treatments

      Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
I have seen a chiropractor that uses the Activator method since high school for pain management. Recently I found a chiro who specialized in sports injuries and he has put me on an exercise routine too.
Physical Therapy Too Soon to Tell
Just began exercises to complement the chiro adjustments.
