About Me
I'm 25 years old, live in a very small town in Texas, where I am the ONLY person with spina bifida. I've had it all my life, and am paralyzed mainly in the legs, so must use a wheelchair. I have all the usual problems which come with this birth defect, allergies, asthma, scoliosis, hydrocephalus...and some problems which don't, which include my shyness. Despite all this, I have a very positive outlook on life (most of the time), and a very supportive family. I do live alone. I have a dog named Dodge, a schnoodle. :)

Close Spina Bifida
Type: meningoceleI have had spina bifida since I was born. I have a loving and supportive family, but I am very shy and it is hard to meet new people. Hopefully I can find friends here, and maybe help others as well. I am the only one in my small town in Texas that has this, so imagine the stares....:)
Close Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaI have asthma, which stems from my many allergies.
Treatments
- Advair Working / Worked
- I'm taking it every night now, seems to be working.
- Albuterol Working / Worked
- Works great, but is being recalled because it hurts the environment...but it helps me..go figure...
- Inhaler Working / Worked
- The albuterol inhaler worked great, but being recalled, so now I use Maxair, works so far.
- Singulair Working / Worked
- Take it daily, works...and if I don't, it's not very pretty...
Open Scoliosis
I have scoliosis, and also have spina bifida. Never had the rod done in my back, the doctors told me it was too dangerous because of my malignant hypothermia.
Open Shyness
I have a hard time meeting new people, especially guys, because I have spina bifida and am in a wheelchair. I am very shy until I get to know someone.
Treatments
- Singing Working / Worked
- I play singstar at my aunt's. It took me forever to do it, now I love it, and don't care who is around!!
