Hello and welcome! Your heart rate will go down once levels do, the high metabolism with Graves keeps the heart rate high,it is normal for us at first. Just keep taking the beta blockers and you should get relief while you're waiting for the levels to drop. Your labs were quite high in the Free levels.

Treatments
- Atenolol Not Working
- Atenolol worked well until I needed more than the maximum dose.
- Inderal Working / Worked
- It took a while for me to really feel better, and it made me SO darn sleepy at the beginning! But now, I am just fine with it and it keeps my heart rate and blood pressure where it is supposed to be.
- Methimazole Too Soon to Tell
- I have been on Methimazole since August of this year (2009). I have not noticed any side effects. Before taking the methimazole, and during the first 4 weeks on it, I got progressively worse. Now (in the last 2 weeks), I feel like I've hit a plateau. Hopefully this is the start of recovery.

- Atenolol Somewhat Helpful
- Helped for a while until I needed more than the maximum dose. I was switched then to Propranolol.
